Look out for more events at Science Learning Centres during 2009/10.

The Science Learning Centre South-East tell us that these courses carry funding from the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA); this is available to a teacher or technician accompanying a paying teacher from the same state-maintained school or college to cover the cost of the course fee.

SNAB teachers workshopSNAB teacher Lesley Pollock and a colleague investigate locust breathing at a SNAB inset session at York. This investigation is a practical in the SNAB A2 course.

Blowing into the tube increases the carbon dioxide concentration around the locust (in the tube), increasing the rate of breathing. This can be measured by counting the number of ventilation movements of the abdomen.
